This 18 x 24 poster was designed in collaboration with Leroy Tellez for a data visualization workshop, sponsored by American Express and led by Nicholas Felton. Provided with AE's metadata of client demographics and account usage and with several hours, Leroy and I chose to see whether the data would reveal a discrepancy in monthly spending between 1) clients who used AE's online portal and clients who didn't and 2) clients of different age ranges.
Using Processing, we parsed through millions of rows in a CSV file to calculate and visualize information broken down by categories, such as age, gender, and payment amount, in the form of pie charts and graphs. These were then exported into Photoshop for final layout and refinement.
Based on the visualizations produced, we could not find a strong correlation of spending for the former, but did discover that spending increases in the higher age ranges.
